Player Bio

What does being a spartan mean to you?

Everything! It is a massive honour and an even bigger pleasure to play with such a great bunch of guys. We play good, hard, physical rugby, which I really enjoy. But I get just as much pleasure from the social side of the Club and seeing new players come in and develop in confidence and quality and become decent players.

When did you join?

March 2000

How much experience did you have before joining?

Every season since age 10. At school and for Broughton Park (at age group) and Old Salians RUFC

What tours have you been on?

London 2000, Falkirk 2000, Washington DC 7's 2001, Bingham Cup San Francisco 2002, Hürth Cologne 7's 2003, Bingham Cup London 2004, Montpellier 7's 2005, Bingham Cup New York 2006, Hürth Cologne 7's 2007, Bingham Cup Dublin 2008, Union Cup London 2009

What has been your best moment since joining the Spartans?

The Spartans first victory in May 2000 remains my best moment, in only our 4th game (and my first for the Club), beating the London Kings Cross Steelers with a superb try in the final minute to overcome some slightly dubious refereeing that had seen the Steelers take the lead 5 mins from full-time. Marvellous!

What has been your worst or most embarrassing moment?

Bingham Cup New York 2006 - terrible performance from a team that could have achieved so much more

What would you say to someone who was thinking of joining

Just do it! There's no reason not to. If you have any fears, I'm sure you'll find them unfounded. And what you'll miss out on if you don't is a truly amazing thing to be part of.
