What does being a spartan mean to you?

For me, rugby has always been about getting that win each week, but it's meant to stand out from other sports in terms of camaraderie and upholding its special qualities. The Village Spartans gave me back the love of the sport and made me remember the real reason for playing - and that's the team spirit! I realised this in the Union Cup 2009 final when, after a fantastically hard-fought match was over, even with the loss I wasn't upset because I was so proud of what me and my friends had done and they were the first people I wanted to run over to - and that's when I realized I was a Spartan!

What would you say to someone who was thinking of joining

The Spartans is full of really good lads and there's something for everyone here. There's the fun banter and social side but also there's the hard, competitive rugby side. So, even if you're a bit nervous, why not come down and watch a few matches and introduce yourself?
