By the time the third Bingham Cup was held in May 2006, the size of IGRAB had swelled considerably. Hosted by the New York Gotham Knights, the Manchester Village Spartans met teams from Sydney, San Francisco, Washington DC, Seattle, Los Angeles, Boston, Dallas, London, Philadelphia, Austin, Chicago, Atlanta, Portland, Dublin, Minneapolis, Cardiff, Phoenix, Toronto and Amsterdam. A total of 29 teams participated, from 22 clubs and 6 countries.

In scorching heat and dusty, dry conditions (and with some shocking refereeing) the Spartans struggled to play anywhere near their best rugby and failed to progress out of their group and into the knock-out stage. Considering their previous Bingham Cup results and the potential of a team with such experienced players, it was a very disappointing result to have come eighth in the main Cup competition. The Cup was won for the first time by the Sydney Convicts who defeated the San Francisco Fog in the final.
