When & where?

The Spartans are now training for their 2008/2009 season. We hope to be even more successful than we were last season but we need your help!

The first match is against Rochdale on 6th September and we're already training on Monday and Wednesday nights!

Come along and see what you're missing!

Training sessions take place on our home pitches on Dane Road/Clarendon Crescent, Sale and last around an hour and a half.

We start at 7pm

Meet in the changing rooms in the basement of the Clubhouse.

Description

We are pleased to be in the position to pay for the services of a professional player and coach who is committed to work hard with us to develop the team over the next season.

The sessions will be aimed at developing the skills of the present players as well as being open to new players who will be given the time and encouragement to learn from the excellent coaching.

New and experienced players are able to start playing for us straight away if they wish but if you are new to rugby or haven't played in a while then we want you to have fun at training sessions first, develop your skills and then play only when you feel ready and able.

We have all the equipment required for safe and fun training like cone markers, crash bags, scrum machine and plenty of odd shaped rugby balls. Typical practices of touch rugby, passing, tackling and scrumming will be taught as well as tactical play. It's a great way to keep fit too!

Rugby PlayersRugby Players

Training is very sociable and it is recommended that potential new members come to a training session to witness this for themselves. You will see that our training is something you can take part in whatever your fitness levels or experience or ability. Just turn up and make yourself known.

Many people interested in joining ask what they should bring to training in order to take part. You should wear rugby shorts or trackie-bottoms and a suitable training tops such as rugby shirt or an old t-shirt that you don't mind getting muddy. You should remove any jewellery and ideally wear a gum shield and rugby or football boots. If you just want to try a few sessions without making the purchase of some boots then you can wear trainers for the first few times.

Remember, we need new players all the time and at any time in the season so you will be made to feel very welcome and encouraged to give it a try!
